Paranormal Paranoia: the other side of tattoo art(ists)

Opens on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5pm-9pm at The Box Gallery in downtown Akron, Ohio.
Curated by twin brother-sister team Roza Maille and Ezra Haidet, the exhibition explores the unknown through its paranormal theme. In addition, it also touches the unknown side of the artists involved, who have created the artwork on paper instead of their normal skin canvases.
The artwork that appears in this exhibition was specifically made with this theme in mind.
Paranormal Paranoia is meant to expand the public’s perspective on what tattoo artists can and to showcase the talents of the people in this trade.
Subjects in the artwork range from bigfoot to ghosts, aliens, and anything in between.  Although the exhibition is comprised mostly of paintings, there will also be a video salon to showcase a short sci-fi film called “The Exchange” by the Ohio-born filmmakers the Campbell Brothers.

The exhibition will include artists Henry Hablak, Marie Sena, John Rippey, Nathan Abney, John Massie, Casey Cokrlic, Boxcar, Tony DeRigo, Andy Chism, Ezra Haidet, Austin Maples, Mando Rascon, Jesse Strother, Jason Phillips, Justin Shaw, Matt Bivetto, Cory Schofield, Zach Taylor, and many more!

In addition there will have a catalog for purchase at the gallery opening and music TBA.  Most paintings will be for sale.

Opening Reception is Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5-9pm at The Box Gallery on the 3rd Floor of the Summit Artspace building. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday from Noon – 5pm. The gallery will be open for the Akron Artwalks on September 6 and October 4 from 5-10pm.
