Villainous Tendencies, by Metal Smith, Kacie Keefe
Kacie Keefe is a metalsmith, dancer, makeup artist, and costume enthusiast. She graduates in December with a BFA, emphasis in Metalsmithing from The University of Akron Myers School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in many shows around the Akron area, including The Palladian Pallette, The Myers School of Art Holiday Shop, and The Lock 3 Holliday Market.
She has recently returned from Penland School of Craft where she held a work-study position and took the class “A Complete Thought” with instructor Amy Tavern.
This body of work is heavily influenced by fairy tale archetypes. These wearables and small sculpture are like a biography for female villains within the tales. The pieces are meant to enhance and decorate their villainous personas, while having the audience see past the archetype and discover the true beauty of the character.
