Nick Cave visits Kent State University

Renowned artist Nick Cave will give a lecture on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Cartwright Hall auditorium. Seating is limited; to reserve a spot, call 330-672-2760. The event is part of the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series

An American fabric sculptor and performance artist, Nick Cave is best known for his “Soundsuits” — wearable fabric sculptures that are bright and whimsical. He is also a trained dancer, and currently serves as graduate coordinator for the fashion design program at SAIC (the School of the Art Institute of Chicago).

Cave also has an exhibition — “Encounter,” consisting of three video installations — on view at the School of Art Gallery in the Art Building. “Encounter” will run through Friday, Nov. 21.

The Auditorium Building (also known as Cartwright Hall) was the location of the Library until 1927 and of the executive offices of the University until 1976.
