Selected artworks from the 40-year collection of The University of Akron’s Emily Davis Gallery, will be on view Dec. 4, 2014, through Feb. 6, 2015 at the gallery in Folk Hall, home of UA’s Myers School of Art, 150 E. Exchange St., Akron. “From the Vault” showcases some of the many treasures in the collection, from old favorites to new acquisitions, including a series of Warhol prints recently donated to UA by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Presenting free exhibitions and lectures since opening in 1974, UA’s Emily Davis Gallery has an impressive history of exhibiting works by national and international contemporary artists. In addition to drawing visitors from the region, the Gallery has played an important role in educating UA students about curating, installing and preserving artwork. The exhibition’s opening reception is Thursday, December 4, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Emily Davis Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with later hours on selected dates. The exhibition and parking are free.
