OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, February 7, 2015, 5-9pm
Local artists Sandra Holata and Melinda Buchholz will be featured in the upcoming art show, “Paper and Glue”, at Akron’s Hazel Tree Interiors.
The opening reception of Hazel Tree’s newest gallery show will be held during the February Akron ArtWalk, on Saturday, February 7, 2015, from 5-9pm.
Each artist brings a different element to “Paper and Glue”. Sandra’s artwork is organic in style while Melinda’s is colorful and bright with a modern flair. Together, they make for an eye pleasing display.
Holata’s paper art is made from all recycled materials. The surface texture and staining of the paper is made by pressing wet paper pulp onto leaves and branches. Sandra also creates photographic imagery that is printed by hand using a liquid photo emulsion painted on recycled food boxes.
Bucholz creates colorful medleys on canvas by using hot glue. She then paints over the multiple layers to create a dimensional surface while experimenting with color theory.
The gallery show, “Paper and Glue”, will run from February 7 – March 28, 2015. The opening reception will be held from 5-9pm on Saturday, February 7, 2015 during the Akron ArtWalk.
Hazel Tree Interiors is located at 143 West Market Street in Akron. Year-round gallery and picture framing/interior design studio hours are Tuesday – Friday, 11:00-5:30 and Saturday, 11:00-3:00.
