Andrew Somoskey’s current work deals with the impact of technology on people, their interaction with others, and their surroundings; as well as its growing presence within the environment. More and more people are using their cell phones to communicate and connect in some way with the digital world. It appears the human population is so dependent on, and obsessed with, being and staying connected to the digital construct that they are losing ties with the actual world. As a result, they become unaware of what is happening in their immediate surroundings. Somoskey’s work comments on the effect that technology in the globalized world has on corporeal interactions and how the constraints and validity of space, place, and time now seem unimportant.
